METRO VR STUDIOS and BRILLIANETOR Team Up

Next-Generation Co-Operative AI for VR Gaming

Boston, MA: May 7, 2018 MetroVR Studios, Inc., (MVRS) a Boston-based start-up VR game development company, announced a joint-development program with Brillianetor, an Israeli Artificial Intelligence firm, to implement cooperative AI technology for Virtual Reality.

Artificial Intelligence has become a standard video game technology, especially in the implementation of ‘enemy’ characters and ‘bots.’ There is a great need, however, for next-generation AI that enables cooperation between multiple agents to achieve the more realistic and engaging demands of today’s game developers and their customers.

Metro VR Studios has been developing several cutting-edge VR titles, including a multi-character pirate game titled “Quest of The Pirate KingTM” which features realistic sea battles that require the unique capabilities of socially cooperative AI.

Brillianator has developed an AI technology for “Empowering Artificial Intelligence with a Social Mind.” Brillianetor brings never-before-seen levels of awareness to bots of their surroundings, with the added ability to collaborate or compete with other bots or with human beings in dynamic environments.

“Our challenge is to create fully-functioning virtual versions of 18th-century sailing ships, each weighing close to a million pounds and travelling with tremendous momentum, that require coordination between their captains when in an engagement,” said Scott Matalon, Co-Founder and President of Metro VR Studios. “Sea captains need to be aware of what their enemies and allied ships are doing before committing to a course of action, and also to quickly reevaluate and react to the ever-changing situations of an open sea battle with multiple ships involved. Brillianetor's cooperative AI gives us the tools to mimic the life-and-death decisions these captains were required to make.”

“We are committed to bringing our cooperative AI technology to the video game market, which is currently in a transformative stage with the advent of VR, massive online audiences, the democratization of core technologies, and the processing speeds of today's computing platforms,” said Meirav Hadad-Segev, founder and Chief Scientist of Brillianetor. “Metro VR Studios' “Quest of The Pirate KingTM” title represents precisely the types of challenges we enjoy best.”

Brian Levine, VP of Business Development at Metro VR Studios, adds, “The energy between the technical people from both of our companies exemplifies the type of pushing at boundaries which defines ‘cutting-edge.’ We are excited to be working together and anticipate a lasting partnership.”
