METRO VR STUDIOS Showing at OCULUS CONNECT 5

One of 6 Indie Developers Featured at Facebook’s Premiere Event

Boston, MA: September 25, 2018 MetroVR Studios, Inc., (MVRS) a Boston-based start-up VR game development company, announced they will be representing the Oculus Start Program at Facebook’s Oculus Connect 5 (OC5) convention in San Jose, California September 26 – 27, 2018 with their upcoming title Orion13SM.

Oculus Connect is Oculus' annual virtual reality developer conference, and 2018 marks its fifth event. It’s designed to bring together VR developers from around the world with expertise in a variety of platforms and mediums to collaborate and share ideas to push the VR industry forward. Oculus is expected to announce it's highly-anticipated standalone Quest VR headset with 6DoF and inside-out tracking at the event.

Metro VR Studios is a member of the Oculus Start Program, an initiative at Oculus designed to assist indie developers through the process of releasing their titles to a worldwide VR audience. MVRS is one of only 6 indie developers, selected from a base of over 900, to be featured at OC5 and will be showcasing their upcoming title Orion13SM.

Designed for experienced VR headset owners, Orion13SM provides a unique VR game experience. Orion13SM is the complex and challenging first-person, story-based adventure of a newly self-aware combat robot’s epic journey to ‘go home.’ Set in a robot-ruled society, Orion13SM features open locomotion with full-body Inversive Kinematics, fast-paced hack-and-slash sword-fighting, interactive friends and enemies, and a pumping original electronic score.

“We've been working with Oculus since the Game Developers Conference, held earlier this year in March,” said Michael Clebnik, Co-Founder and CEO of Metro VR Studios. “The feedback and support we’ve received from them has assisted our developers to bring Orion13SM to levels we were having difficulty attaining on our own.”

“Metro VR Studios has multiple, high-quality titles in our queue,” said Rita Turkowski, Program Manager at Oculus. “Our team felt Orion13SM is a perfect showcase of indie talent at its best with a compelling story, full freedom of movement and very fast sword fighting action.”

Scott Matalon, Co-Founder and President adds, “Being invited to such a premiere event is a great honor for us. It validates what we are doing and our whole team is energized. Plus, having the opportunity to meet directly with the Oculus personnel is a tremendous opportunity.”
